Process Schools
The Dyslexia Teaching Centre is now screening in a number of Primary and Secondary Schools across Liverpool and within more than one authority…
Most of these schools have come on board as a result of recommendations from other schools in their area. School SENCOs are invited to get in touch for assessment and accompanying intervention advice.
Initial contacts are again predominantly made through e-mails…
The Centre can complete up to two assessments in school per day and assessments are generally held on the school premises. Schools can also fund unit-based assessments, where parents attend with a child at the Centre. There are also occasions when parents self-fund with assessments being held on school premises; all of these approaches are welcomed.
When assessments are school based…and a date has been decided, the school are provided with a pre-assessment questionnaire to give to parents and rating scales, which are aiming at acquiring further background information in respect of attention and social communication abilities. The school itself will also be provided with rating scales for teachers to gain a school-based perspective as well and to compare any differences presented. These questionnaires will be collected on the day of assessment and then incorporated into the final report.
